MBVS Sim Verification
Telecom firms will employ the Multi-Finger Biometric Verification System (MBVS) to confirm consumers' identities prior to providing a new SIM card. At PTA headquarters on Friday, a deal was inked between Nadra and telecom operators.
Scammers who managed to get around the outdated biometric technology used to identify users before providing SIM cards forced the change.
The Jazz, Ufone, Telenor, and Zong sales divisions' outdated biometric verification tools have been modified to comply with the new system's requirements.
The new technique, according to officials, will make it difficult to obtain a new SIM card using fictitious fingerprints.
Before providing a new or duplicate SIM card, the new method will need the impressions of several fingers for authentication, as compared to the old system's single thumb imprint.
To reduce human influence over the system, the system will randomly ask for the imprints of two different fingers.
Consumers will benefit from increased fraud security. In light of the current crisis in Pakistan, it is a wise move that can assist the locals in reducing their level of worry.
